silence smells like burnt coffee is a large ensemble piece written for and premiered by the 2026 Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival faculty and interns.
the piece uses fixed media which includes excerpts of an interview of composer John Cage paired with a cinematic overture, cartoon-ish theme music, and a fever dream-esque trumpet solo interlude.
